
Leiston defeated Long Melford 4-0 on Saturday afyernoon to move within a point of Wivenhoe Town at the foot of the table.
The win moves them on to 20 points, with four games to go in the 2025/2026 campaign.
The afternoon started well with Stan Horne crossing into the box for Ollie Long to poke the ball into Ben Moye’s bet and Long added a second eight minutes later, shooting over Moye after a good long kick by Nathaniel Copping.
Long grabbed his hat-trick in the 68th minute, shooting home brilliantly with his left foot off the underside of Moye’s crossbar to end the contest.
On 88 minutes, sub Ashton Rayworth made it four after shooting home a loose ball under Moye.
Thanks to the supporters who turned up today in front of a crowd of 61.
Leiston are back in action on Bank Holiday Monday when they head to Essex to play promotion chasing Holland FC.
