LEISTON No.1 Sam Donkin has committed his future to the Blues, signing a two-year deal with the Club.

Sam, who joined Leiston in 2019, making his debut between the sticks in a 1-1 draw against Nuneaton, has played more than 130 games for Leiston and last season kept 13 clean sheets in almost 50 appearances.

He admitted to being delighted to pen a new contract.

“The Club is a really exciting place to be at the moment and I’m grateful for the opportunity to extend my stay by another two years,” Sam said.

“We know the challenges ahead of us in terms of the tough competition, but the Club are constantly trying to build an exciting team and that is good to be part of.”

Blues joint first team boss, Chris Wigger, knows the importance of securing the highly rated goalkeeper’s services.

“Sam has been a huge player for Darren and me in our time here,” Chris said.

“He was one of the first players to commit his future to us in the early days, so we value that and are glad to secure his immediate future with us at Leiston.”

Meanwhile, Leiston have been boosted with the confirmation captain Seb Dunbar will be staying at the Club, after he penned a two-year, with more signings and announcements set for the coming days and weeks.
