LEISTON chairman Andy Crisp has spoken of his pride in the club’s continued progress as the Blues enter the business end of this season – with an exciting March ahead.
On and off the field, much has been, and continues to be, done at the Watson & Hillhouse Stadium. Something Andy acknowledges.
“I want to pay tribute to everyone who does so much to help Leiston Football Club maintain such high standards on and off the pitch – all our wonderful sponsors, fans, committee members and volunteers, and of course our excellent managers, coaches and players,” Andy said.
“Our first team, under the management of Chris Wigger, are giving us a season to be proud of, with who knows what is to come as we enter an exciting month of March? With league visits from Kettering this Saturday and Bedford Town, the current leaders, at the end of the month. And a Suffolk Premier Cup clash with AFC Sudbury to.
“Of course, we remember the exciting FA Cup run we all enjoyed.
“Our youth teams, boys and girls, continue to grow in numbers, supported by our hard-working coaches. Our community club has never felt stronger.”
Andy told of the huge gratitude he and the Leiston board members share towards the Club’s sponsors.
“Leiston Football Club has always been blessed with wonderful sponsors who have supported our Club with their generosity,” he said. “And it has been wonderful to welcome new sponsors on board in recent weeks. We thank them all and look forward to working with all of you in the years ahead.”
On Saturday, the first team continue their push for the Southern League Central Premier play-offs with that clash with Kettering Town, and entertain Bedford Town and Halesowen at Victory Road later in the season – two more teams currently in the top five.
“It’s an exciting fixture list remaining for our first team,” Andy said.
Meanwhile, this Saturday also sees the second Vice Presidents’ lunch of the season – a popular event, while later this month both a Horse Race night and Sports Quiz take place after first-team games on March 15th and 29th. Everyone welcome!
A little further afield, England legend Peter Shilton is the guest speaker at Leiston’s Sporting Dinner on Thursday, April 24, where corporate tables of eight are available for £360 + VAT. Single tickets are available for £45 each.
Andy added: “It’s a busy few months ahead and we’re all excited to be staging so much on and off the field. If anyone would like any more details, tickets or sponsorship opportunities at these events or would like to speak to me more about the Club in general, please feel free to contact me on 07769 904555.”
