BLUES striker Ben Fowkes says his side are looking forward to some good pre-season tests, as Leiston got back into pre-season training this week.
The Blues were back on the grass on Tuesday night in the team’s first training session of the new campaign, a campaign Fowkes is looking forward to, especially with some good friendlies coming up.
“Our pre-season has some good tests,” Fowkes, who netted 12 goals last season, said.
“Ipswich Town, Aveley, Billericay, they’re all big clubs and will be a good test fitness wise and technically.”
So, how did Fowkes view last season and how is he looking forward to the season ahead?
“Personally, I thought last season was okay for me, but I’m feeling good and looking forward to the new season.
“Yes, a few players have gone, but that’s part and parcel of every season. But we’re recruiting well and hopefully the new lads can settle in quickly.”
So, home or away on opening day, the fixtures are released middle of July? And, has he set any goal targets for the campaign ahead?
“I’m not worried about being home or away on opening day to be honest. I’m just looking forward to that first game. I’ve never really set goal targets; I just go with the flow and see what happens.”
