LEISTON picked up a valuable and deserved point as they drew 1-1 in the West Midlands with Halesowen, Kyran Clements' later header doing the trick for the Blues.
A miserable afternoon greeted the both sides weather wise but this certainly didn’t dampen the overall play of both sides.
A first half ended goalless with Jamar Loza hitting the bar for the Blues while Billy Johnson made a couple of smart stops.
In the second period, Halesowen took the lead through Enock Lokeba from close range as Johnson again made good stops. Leiston though started to have more of the ball and went close on a few occasions before sub Ismael Fatadjo crossed from the Blues left and substitute Kyran Clements headed home beyond Daniel Platt to level the scores.
Wyatt Hill cleared a ball off the line late on to secure the Blues first point on the road this season.
It was great to see Blues captain Seb Dunbar back in the team. The defender came on in the 76th minute for his first minutes of the new season.
Blues side: Johnson, Hill, Yul, Alexander, Eddie Jackson, Manley (Fatadjo 58 mins), Saunders (Dunbar 76 mins), Fowkes, Quantrell, Loza, Ryan Jarvis (Clements 76 mins). Sub not used: Batho.
