Blues boss Lee Harrison is looking forward to the Blues FA Youth Cup date with Haverhill Rovers on Monday night (7.45pm kick off).

After receiving a BYE in the Extra Preliminary Round, the Blues have beaten Mildenhall Town 8-1 and Wroxham both at the Flannery Stadium to reach this stage.

“The boys have been fantastic, obviously we’ve got a lot of our senior lads playing who have the experience of winning last season’s County Cup and playing in the FA Youth Cup last season. The first game was a comfortable win and a good benchmark for the youth cup run. Wroxham made it hard for us last week, we were 2-0 down and we looked to be in a bit of trouble. But a few tactical tweaks and a strong half time message saw us manage to recover to secure our place in the next round.”

And at the weekend, Harrison added the Blues were obviously looking forward to the match as well as mentioning a few players who have played their part so far.

“Of course, we’re all excited for the game on Monday night. I’m sure it’ll be a good game of football between two solid sides.”

“It’s so hard to mention individual players as they’ve all contributed with big moments throughout from saves, blocks to goals. Obviously, skipper Stan Horne has five goals in two games. Ollie Long was back with a brace and they’ll naturally get the plaudits that they rightfully deserve. I must say I think Jack McLeavy has been excellent across the two games, his work rate has really gone up this year and he’s always on hand to score an important goal when you need it.”

Back to the league, and the Blues lost their opening game 3-1 at Needham Market, the side have drawn 1-1 at home to Ipswich Wanderers whilst drawing 0-0 at Woodbridge Town last week, in a Youth League which contains just eight teams this season.

“The league campaign has been a success so far, we’re going through a transitional period right now with ten Under 16’s on the pitch on Thursday night. The club has a lot of talented players coming through so the future is bright.”
