Haughley United 3 Blues Under 23’s 3

Under 23’s beaten on penalties

Leiston Under 23’s crashed out of the Suffolk Senior Cup Quarter Finals on Saturday afternoon, losing on spot kicks at Suffolk and Ipswich League Haughley United.

Mackenzie Travis and Owen Lavery netted goals either side of the break, Mackenzie Travis now scoring in every round of the competition. Haughley fought back to take the lead in stoppage time and edge the tie 3-2.

However, there was still time for Charlie Atkin to convert from the penalty spot with the last kick of the game to send the tie to penalties.

But the side fell a little bit short on penalties beaten 5-4 on spot kicks.

Still a great effort again from the squad this season to achieve a Quarter Final berth, something they have achieved in four of the last five seasons.

The side return to League action as they search for important league points next Saturday with Haverhill Borough visiting the Flannery Stadium, kick off 3pm.
