Leiston defeated Hornchurch 3-1 this evening to progress to the 4th Round Qualifying of the FA Cup.
Tommy Wraight, who netted against Leiston in the FA Trophy last season, put the Essex side ahead on 24 minutes when he slotted home from a corner but Hornchurch couldn’t grab a second goal.
After the break, Leiston started to play better and Eddie Jackson levelled on 66 minutes.
Hornchurch were reduced to ten men when goalkeeper Mason Terry was sent off and after the game went into extra time, Jamar Loza put Leiston ahead after the player won the penalty.
With Hornchurch pushing for an equaliser, Loza broke away and beat the keeper to the ball to put into an empty net and send the Blues into the next round.
Leiston will now host Dagenham & Redbridge in the 4th Round Qualifying, on Saturday, October 12 at Victory Road.
