Ian Cornforth steps down as Blues boss

Ian Cornforth has today decided to step down as Leiston First Team Manager. Assistant Manager Paul Stannard has also decided to step down from his position.

Ian helped the club claim 7 points
in his time in charge of the Blues and will stay involved with the club’s youth sides.

Cornforth took charge of the side along with Paul Stannard in mid September when Stuart Boardley resigned. He came to the club in October 2018, and took charge of two first team matches that resulted in wins against St Ives Town and VCD Athletic respectively. He helped steer the Reserves into 9th position in the league last campaign.

Cornforth said on his departure: - ‘I’ve enjoyed my time with Leiston first team and have had 3 or 4 good results but also a few bad ones. I’d like to thank all the supporters who have been so good to me, especially the travelling Blue Army. I hope the 7 points the side got in October will prove valuable in the clubs quest for survival.’

Everyone at the club wishes Ian all the best for the future.
