Defender Eddie ready for a fourth consecutive campaign at Leiston

'Being a defender and centre-half you need to be reliable and consistent.'
- Eddie Jackson

BLUES defender Eddie Jackson is looking forward to another season at Step 3 in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Division Central.

Jackson, who has made 131 appearances in all competitions for Leiston since joining in the summer of 2023, played 45 out of Leiston’s 50 competitive games last season, netting four goals from the back.

“I think I’ve matured a lot as a player since I first joined the club and playing a lot of games in my three seasons so far has helped me develop in all areas, on and off the pitch," he said.

"Being a defender and centre-half you need to be reliable and consistent, and I think that’s one on my biggest strengths."

Jackson won supporters player of the season last season, just beating fellow team-mates Kyle Callan-McFadden, Adam Mills and club captain Seb Dunbar to the award.

“This summer, I’m really trying to put my feet up, enjoy the weather and visit a few countries, so I can hit the ground running as the season arrives. I’ve been doing lots of strength sessions to maintain that robustness as I know the games come thick and fast.”

Jackson, who made his debut at Halesowen Town in August 2023, is not putting any pressure on himself or Chris Wigger’s team as Leiston go into the new season, their 15th at Step 3.

“I would like personally to play as many games as possible and as a team us to finish as close to the top of the table as we can."

The new season starts on Saturday, August 8.
