Game 5/42.

The Blues host Alvechurch in a big game on Saturday in the league. After a good 1-1 draw on the opening day of the season, Leiston have lost their next four matches, conceding 16 goals in the process. This leaves them bottom of the table but they can go level on points with Alvechurch with a win.

Matt Blake and Will Davies are out injured for the match but everyone else is available. Siju Odelusi has signed for the Blues. He played for Witham Town last season and can play as a centre back or centre midfielder. He will be included in the squad for Saturday. Alvechurch were beaten by the Blues 2-0 in February last season. George Keys and Christy Finch were on target that day. In the other fixture, Matt Blake scored his 50th league goal but Alvechurch fought back to win 2-1.

Alvechurch have lost 3 of their opening 5 games. They drew 2-2 with Barwell and beat Hitchin Town 5-0 but lost 3-0 away from home to Royston Town and Hednesford Town respectively before succumbing to a 2-0 home loss on Bank Holiday Monday.

Away from first team activity and there is no match for the Reserves this afternoon but the newly formed ’A’ side travel to Woolverstone United Reserves in SIL Division 4 for their first ever league match. Kick off is at 2.30.
