THE BLUES end their season at home on Saturday, to bottom-placed Biggleswade Town at the Watson & Hillhouse Stadium (3pm ko).
It’s a second match on the spin for the Blues against an already relegated side, after Monday’s 0-0 draw at Lowestoft Town.
A top 10 finish in the Southern League Central Premier Division is on the cards for Leiston – a decent season by anyone’s standards and one head coach Lee Norfolk reflected on with a fair amount of pride.
“The season has been positive and progressive as we have built a good squad again after losing a number of key players at the end of last season,” Norfolk said.
“We have maintained our identity and enhanced it, gaining acclaim from many of our opponents, both in the way we play and the way we conduct ourselves as a club, home and away.”
And Norfolk went on to say there had been many good moments this campaign for the Blues.
“We had a memorable FA Cup run, beating Step 2 opponents over 240 minutes of football,” he said.
“We made the Suffolk Premier Cup final, going one better than last season, and we took that game all the way, even getting international coverage thanks to our goalkeeper Billy Johnson’s late heroics!
“And we’ve flirted with the play-offs, had a good away campaign, which were all things on the ‘to do’ list.
“As a club we need to remember we do punch above our weight with some big hitters.”
