BLUES head coach, Lee Norfolk, has praised the Blues defensive unit after three successive clean sheets has seen Leiston concede only one goal in their last four Southern League Central Premier division games.
Eighth-placed Leiston entertain a Redditch United side three places and three points below them, at the Watson & Hillhouse Stadium this Saturday, 3pm kick-off, in what is sure to be another tough test.
“We have been defending well and it’s a credit to all our defenders, as we have had to reshuffle quite a few times so far this season,” Norfolk said.
“But they have all adapted and it’s great to have a couple of the younger players, Cameron Rayworth and Ben Batho, to call on, and they have stepped up.”
The Blues clash at Biggleswade Town was called off on Tuesday night because of the weather, something Norfolk was disappointed about, especially after Saturday’s solid win over Hitchin Town.
“It’s a shame the Biggleswade game was off as we want to play these games while we have some momentum,” he said. “We could have gone sixth and level on points with the play-off places.”
The Biggleswade game has yet to be rescheduled.
Meanwhile, Leiston’s home game with Redditch on Saturday is being sponsored by a group of Leiston FC supporters, who have generously got together to support the club for what is sure to be another entertaining clash.
