Now here's a quiz question... And the answer is NOT Cornwall

500 games at Step 3, the talk of the Leiston terraces has been that... and more

WELL, like most of the country, the flu-like bug going around has reached these eastern parts and poor old Tik Tok has been stuck indoors on the Beecham’s powders this week.

So, I trundled up to the LWAA, oops the LTAA, on my own last Saturday. What a game by the way, how was it only 1-0 and against a Stratford side sitting second from top?

All the locals who don’t go and watch are missing a trick in my opinion, quality football, a friendly atmosphere and beating much larger clubs, population and wallet wise. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again to the fine folk of Leiston... Let’s be havin’ you!

As I treated myself to a brandy after the game (for medicinal purposes you understand), I was told the Stratford game was Leiston’s 500th. I thought to myself that can’t be right, they’ve been playing for nearly 150 years, how can it just be 500? So, you can guess where I went on my half day off Tuesday? Yep, the local library.

Turns out it was 500 games at their current level, Step 3. I was going to say, I’d need Carol Vorderman to calculate how many games they’ve played since the 1800’s. Now there a quiz question. I’m going to take a guess at 4,157. What do you think?

Right, I’m off to the corner shop to get Tik Tok some Venos and Fisherman’s Friends. Big game this weekend against St Ives Town, from Cambridgeshire, at the Watson & Hillhouse. Don't think he's going to make it mind you.

I do hope he’s alright by next week, as it’s his turn to sort the train tickets for Bromsgrove. Then again maybe I'll do it after the fiasco a couple of months back of him sorting out the tickets for St Ives Town, away. Yep, you can guess what he did?

And as much as I love Cornwall...
