The Blues visit Peterborough Sports tomorrow in the BetVictor Southern League Premier Central in what will be a first ever meeting between the two sides. Manager Ian Cornforth has no injury concerns ahead of the match while Tom Hughes has signed on loan from Ipswich Town and should feature in the squad tomorrow afternoon.

Peterborough Sports are currently 18th in the league table, but they have had some excellent results already this season. Their only league win came away at Biggleswade Town as they won 3-0. They drew 2-2 at home to Stourbridge and have drawn four league matches this season so far in the league. They entered the Emirates FA Cup at the Preliminary Round stage and beat Bugbrooke St Michael 7-0 at home, before beating East Thurrock 3-2 in a Replay in the next round. Last Saturday, they won 2-1 at Bishop’s Stortford to progress to the 3rd Qualifying Round where they will host Guiseley next Saturday.

Established in 1919 as Brotherhoods Engineering Works, they played their early years in the Northants league. They had some success in different regional leagues before changing their name once again to Bearings Direct in 1999. They changed their name to Peterborough Sports for a third time in 2001. In the 2012-13 season, they were promoted to Division One of the United Counties League after finishing third. Just two years ago in 2017, they won promotion from the Premier Division with 112 points. Last year, they also won promotion from the Southern League Division One Central and thus were put in the BetVictor Southern League Central Premier this season.

Meanwhile back at headquarters tomorrow, the Reserves face Great Yarmouth Town in the Thurlow Nunn First Division North. After the match, the Reserves will be looking forward to listening to the 2nd Round draw of the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup live on BBC Radio Suffolk between 5.30pm and 6pm. Also the ‘A’ team host Bury Town Rams in the SIL Touchline Division 4 at Alde Valley Academy. The ‘A’ side currently sit in 3rd position.

Lastly, the U18’s beat Felixstowe & Walton United U18’s on Thursday night 4-0 at Dellwood Avenue. Hayden Brown, Callum Pearce, Ash Wilding and Reece Kerry were all on target to keep the U18’s top of the division. This Thursday they visit Ipswich Wanderers U18’s.
