Big Easter Monday clash and Leiston boss wants positive response

'We don’t want the season to go flat and want to give our fans plenty still to cling onto.'
- Chris Wigger

LEISTON boss Chris Wigger is looking for a ‘positive response’ from his side in the big local derby clash against Bury Town at the Flannery Stadium on Easter Monday, 3pm kick-off.

The Blues are looking to bounce back after a heavy 1-4 defeat at Redditch on Friday, only their third defeat in 11 games in all competitions.

Wigger says the 4-1 result didn’t tell the tale of the match.

“We conceded after having started well. The first goal is often crucial, as we have found out in our last two games, winning them both 1-0.

“Redditch get a second and then the next goal is crucial. We’re pushing and they catch us on the break and it’s pretty well game over.”

Leiston and Bury have already met once this season. It was a 1-1 draw at Ram Meadow back in February, and it is a game both will want to end up with bragging rights from.

“Yes, it’s a big game against Bury Town, for both sides,” Wigger said.

“From me the message to my players is for us to keep competing and challenging. We don’t want the season to go flat and want to give our fans plenty still to cling onto and cheer towards the end of the season.”

FREE EASTER EGGS on Monday for the first 60 under-16s paying the £3 admission.
