BLUES boss, Chris Wigger, has heaped praise on his squad, as the season begins to take shape.

Wigger, who has had to cope with tricky injury issues at the start of the campaign is preparing the Blues for an FA Cup clash at Hitchin Town this weekend, as well as an FA Trophy clash with Dartford on the 26th, at the Flannery Stadium.

And he's hoping players coming back from injury can continue the good work already done, with the Blues sitting eighth in the Southern League Premier Central division.

"I think we knew it was going to be a tough start for us with the players we had injured and unavailable from the start of the season, especially some key players in forward areas," he said.

"I must admit there was a slight worry about a lack of goal threat.

"But that hasn’t been the case. Adam Mills has been fantastic. He’s found some real good form with real good quality and is scoring goals regularly.

"Willie Clemons has also been terrific playing out on the left. So, it maybe wasn’t the front three I was expecting to be playing in the positions they have been playing at the start of the season, but all of them, including Harvey Sayer, have led the line well.

"Now though we’re getting players back from injury. At Banbury we had all of our first-team squad available for the first time this season, although sadly we lost Eddie Jackson with a sickness bug overnight before the game.

"So, although we didn’t quite have that first full 17-man squad, we had almost all of it, and it was good to have Joao Rangel back from injury with us as part of that."

The Blues head to Hitchin this weekend, and will entertain Peterborough Sports next Tuesday, September 22nd, assuming neither Leiston nor Peterborough Sports have an FA Cup replay.
