U18's claim the points in first League fixture since November!

The U18’s welcomed Felixstowe & Walton U18’s to Victory Road for their first league match since November.

Having slipped to third in the league table due to not playing, it was important to get back to winning ways. The Blues created the first chance of the match but Jac Garrard’s free kick from the right hand side was headed well wide by Adam Blades. A Jac Garrard free kick was nervously punched away by away goalkeeper Oliver Fisher while Jake Preston had the visitors first effort on goal but Charlie Beckwith dealt with his shot comfortably. Jac Garrard dragged a shot wide whilst on the edge of the area and the same player had a chance moments later. Ben Snowling’s cross from the left was laid off to Jac Garrard by Adam Blades by he somehow struck the ball over the crossbar. Leiston opened the scoring in the 26th minute as Fisher let the ball run past his boot to allow Adam Blades to slide home and give Leiston the lead. Leiston doubled their lead a minute later as Jac Garrard’s cross was met by Lukas Darling who headed back across goal into Fisher’s bottom right hand corner. Daniel Horton had a half chance on the edge of the area but his shot was wide of the target before Leiston virtually finished the contest to net a third goal. Toby Groom’s shot on the angle was parried away only as far as Jac Garrard and he made no mistake and slotted home. Leiston had a couple more half chances, while in the last minute of the half, Toby Groom sliced wide from Carl Mayhew’s cross.

The second half was a tighter affair with chances coming at a premium. Adam Blades went through on goal five minutes into the half but Oliver Fisher stood up well and the danger was cleared. A lot of play was being played in the middle of the park but Felixstowe had an excellent opportunity to score, however Charlie Beckwith saved brilliantly from Jake Preston. Hayden Ling had a strike from close range blocked by Fisher and Ling then shot over from the rebound. Jake Preston had another decent chance late on but Charlie Beckwith saved with his legs. The U18’s are in home action next Thursday when they host Framlingham Town.
