The U18's gained their first win of the season against Coplestonians, in a match played at Woodbridge Town FC.
The Blues got off to a great start, taking the lead in just the second minute. Aaron McGuckin got in down the left after good build up play before squaring to Owen Pierce who made no mistake in placing the ball into the back of the net. Brandon Ling blocked well from the lively Joshua Smith as Cops had their first chance, but Leiston got a second goal in the 17th minute as Harry Eyre headed in a corner. Smith had another chance for Cops but Toby Chenery showed him wide of the goal, before Brandon Ling was able to make the save. George Fricker shot over from distance, while Harry Eyre also put an effort off target as both teams struggled to create a clear opening. Just before the break, Hayden Ling brilliantly turned the defender, and placed his strike into the keepers bottom right hand corner. In the first minute of added on time, poor defending by Leiston let in Smith and he smashed past Ling, giving the keeper no chance.
Four minutes into the second period, and Leiston scored a fourth goal. George Fricker tried his luck from outside the box and found home keeper Ollie Rawnsley's bottom left hand corner. Owen Pierce worked a good chance down the right, before delivering a cross for Witness Mhango but his effort was deflected away form goal. In the 59th minute, Owen Pierce grabbed his second and Leiston's fifth goal as a good team move ended with Pierce striking into Rawnsley's bottom right hand corner. Leiston had further chances from Eyre, Mhango, Garrard, Page and then Chenery as the game came to a close. In the final minute of normal time, Cops sub Jadyn Huggins turned well and found sub keeper Harvey Garnham's bottom right hand corner.
