BISHOP’S STORTFORD V BLUES - MATCH PREVIEW

Match Information
Buildbase FA Trophy Second Round
Bishop’s Stortford v Blues
Saturday 27th November
Kick Off 3pm
Dunmow Road, Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, CM23 5RG
Tel: - 01279 306456.

The Blues head to Hertfordshire tomorrow afternoon in the Buildbase FA Trophy as they take on Bishop’s Stortford in a first ever meeting in the history between the two sides.

Bishop’s Stortford currently sit in 6th position in their respective Step 3 league (Isthmian Premier) Division. They have won 8, drawn 5 and lost 3 of their 16 league games so far. In the FA Trophy, they have beaten Lewes (2-0) and Chipstead (2-1) thus far. Leiston have beaten Hitchin Town 3-1 (Hunter, Ocran and Odelusi) and Harrow Borough 3-0 (Ocran and Davies 2) in their two games so far.

The winners will progress to the Third Round draw on Monday when National League sides enter. If tomorrow’s tie is level after 90 minutes, the game will be decided via a penalty shoot out.

Blues joint boss Chris Wigger said on Thursday evening: - ‘Saturday was a difficult one…. on one hand it was a very poor performance from us and on the other I’d say we came up against the best team we have met this season. Having said that it’s our performances that we have control over and we definitely need to improve on Saturdays in order to stand any chance of competing against Bishop Stortford. I do feel that tactically myself and Darren could have matched up Coalville’s formation a little sooner than we did as once we made the adjustment we competed on more of an even keel. That side of things is definitely on us. Saying that, in all honesty we can’t play the 1st 45 minutes of a game without really physically competing and that’s something that won’t be tolerated. So let’s see how things go Saturday in a winner takes all scenario.’

Other matches tomorrow in the competition sees Needham Market host Welwyn Garden City while Felixstowe & Walton United welcome AFC Telford United to the Goldstar Ground.

There is no Reserves or ‘A’ team game this weekend due to a COVID outbreak in the squad. We hope the players make a full recovery and look forward to seeing them back on the pitch soon.
