LEISTON suffered Suffolk Premier Cup heartache for the second time in four seasons when Felixstowe & Walton beat them on penalties, at Needham Market’s Bloomfields ground on Wednesday night.

In an incredible finish to the game, Chris Wigger’s team staged a dramatic comeback after finding themselves two goals down (Charlie Warren 61 and Cameron Forde-Brown 78).

Firstly Cameron Rayworth (85) headed home a Fraser Alexander corner, before Leiston goalkeeper Billy Johnson brought the house down with a spectacular scissor-kick finish after he came up for a corner on 94 minutes to level the score at 2-2.

However, there was no fairy tale ending for the Blues as the game went straight to penalties, with Wyatt Hill and Eddie Jackson both missing for the Blues. The Seasiders netted all four, to win 4-3 on penalties, as they picked up their first-ever Premier Cup title.

On a dry night and in front of almost 1,000 fans, the Blues welcomed back into the team Ben Fowkes and Rossi Jarvis for the cup-tied Adam Mills and Ryan Jarvis.

Felixstowe had the first corner of the game, that was headed wide, before Fowkes shot over the bar on seven minutes.

The Blues were dealt a blow on 25 minutes when Jack Manly had to go off injured, with Rayworth replacing him. The Seasiders had two half-chances, with the second one from Jack Ainsley going over Johnson's bar from a corner.

Seb Dunbar and George Quantrell linked up well on 38 minutes, with Kyran Clements sliding in on the six-yard area. But he just couldn't get a firm enough touch on the ball in what was the best chance so far.

However, just four minutes later Felixstowe & Walton should have taken the lead. A foul in the box saw Sam Ford with the chance to put the Seasiders ahead from the spot, but he blazed over.

Quantrell and Rayworth linked up well down the right again for Leiston as the second half began, but it was Felixstowe who took the lead on 61 minutes, Warren heading home at the back post.

Leiston were chasing the game now and Fowkes had a half-chance, but Hugh Cullum kept him at bay. The tie looked all over 12 minutes from time when Forde-Brown got clear and slid the ball beneath Johnson in the Leiston goal.

Tempers frayed as the minutes ticked by, before Leiston gave themselves a lifeline with Rayworth confidently heading home Alexander's corner with five minutes to go. It set up a grandstand finish that Blues 'keeper Johnson brought to a crescendo with his unbelievable scissor-kick finish on 94 minutes to make the score 2-2.

There was still time for Jackson to clear off the Blues line in the final seconds as the tie went to penalties, with Felixstowe netting all four of theirs, with Leiston missing twice and the Seasiders' fans were left rejoicing.
