LEISTON bowed out of the Suffolk Premier Cup after Luke Ingram's late goal was enough to put Needham Market through.
Ingram struck seven minutes from time finishing from close range, just six minutes after the Blues had been reduced to 10 men after Willie Clemons was sent off.
For Leiston, it was another frustrating home night in a match that never reached the heights of a local derby.
The visitors started well and Edward Barker shot wide inside three minutes. Barker had another half-chance a few minutes later, before the Blues came forward and Adam Mills tried his luck from distance.
Clemons and Joao Rangel won the Blues another corner, but that was cleared, before Ingram did well only to shoot wide of Billy Johnson's post as the half came to a goalless end.
Blues skipper Seb Dunbar was booked early in the second period and Clemons received what was to be the first of his two yellows in the 59th minute.
Ronnie Blois became the third Blues player into the referee's book with chances still at a premium, before Clemons was sent off in the 77th-minute, reducing Leiston to 10 men.
Penalties loomed, as Ingram shot wide, before the same player won it for Needham Market in the 83rd-minute.
It proved to be the winning goal. Needham Market will now play Bury in the semi-final.
