THE Blues host Grays Athletic on Tuesday night in an Emirates FA Cup First Round Qualifying Replay after they sides drew 0-0 on Saturday afternoon in Essex at Tilbury FC writes Craig Cooper.

Leiston hit the woodwork twice through Harvey Sayer and Eddie Jackson, while Grays had two good on added on time but no team could break the deadlock.

The winners will play away at either Biggleswade Town or Hitchin Town in the next round.

This will be the first time the Blues have had a replay at this stage since 2018, when the side drew 2-2 at Cheshunt on the Saturday before winning 4-2 in the replay.

Callum Robinson should return to the Blues squad after being unavailable for Saturday’s game at Grays Athletic.

PREVIOUS HOME GAMES AGAINST GRAYS ATHLETIC IN SUFFOLK

Rhys Henry scored twice in the final 13 minutes for Leiston after a first half penalty from Harry Agomber and then Anthony Ryan netted a second for Grays as 237 people watched on at Victory Road on Saturday 17th December 2011, when the teams first met in Suffolk.

The two sides next met in Suffolk on Tuesday 19th August 2014, with Leiston winning 4-0 in front of 192 people.

Gareth Heath (2), Stuart Boardley and Cliff Akarang all netted for the Blues on the night.

The following season, on Saturday 5th September 2015, Grays Athletic won 2-1 at Leiston. Tom Bullard scored for Leiston while Dumebi Dumaka netted twice for Grays, the second deep into added on time.

The teams last met in the league at The Flannery Stadium, Victory Road, on Tuesday 23rd August 2016, with Leiston winning 4-1. Matt Blake (2), Joe Francis and Tom Winter were all target. Ade Cole scored a late consolation for Grays as 210 spectators watched on.

Leiston won by the same scoreline 11 days later in the FA Cup.

If tomorrow’s tie ends level after ninety minutes, the game will be followed by half an hour of extra time and then possible penalties.
