Leiston head to Bromsgrove Sporting tomorrow afternoon as they play the Warwickshire club for a second time this season. Earlier in the campaign in August, Bromsgrove defeated to Blues 3-2 in Suffolk. Two Jamar Loza goals were not enough on the day at Bromsgrove held on for the points but Leiston did play well during the contest.
Fast forward four months to December, and the Blues are now in 15th place, one position and two points above Bromsgrove in the table. Leiston also have two games in hand. Chris Wigger and Darren Eadie’a excellent 4-1 win at Hitchin Town on Monday night meant Leiston moved four points clear of Royston Town, who sit fourth from bottom and in the final relegation spot at present. Goals from Adam Bailey-Dennis, Jack Manly and a brace from Jamar Loza saw Leiston put in a fine performance on the night against fourth place Hitchin.
The sides have met twice before at the Victoria Ground. The Blues won 4-0 on the opening day of the 2021/2022 campaign as goals from Dylan Switters, George Quantrell and a brace from Will Davies helped Leiston to a fine win in front of a crowd of over 800.
Last season in September 2022, Leiston won 7-1.
Finlay Barnes (2), Jake Hutchings, Adam Bailey-Bennis, Ben Fowkes (2) and Will Davies were all on target.
The Blues have got two home games to finish off 2023 in the next couple of weeks. Next Saturday, Leiston welcome Stratford Town to Suffolk whilst in two weeks, Nuneaton Borough visit.
