OVERVIEW
LEISTON host St Ives Town this evening, the first of two huge home games in five days this week. They entertain Spalding United on Saturday.
Saturday’s victory over Stamford moved the Blues into 6th position in the Southern League Central Premier Division table, their highest League position so far this season after a fantastic victory over one of their play off rivals. The Blues sit just two points off the play-off places, a victory Tuesday night would see Chris Wigger’s side leapfrog Halesowen Town into the final play off spot with 12 games remaining.
Marcus Mehew, who enjoyed a fine game at Stamford, will remain in goal as Billy Johnson completes the second of a two game suspension, while Wyatt Hill returns to the squad.
St Ives Town drew 1-1 at Redditch United at the weekend and had a good 2-1 win over Alvechurch recently.
The Ives currently sit in 15th place, with 36 points from their 29 league games so far.
Leiston beat St Ives 3-1 earlier in the season in Cambridgeshire. Arron Smith opened the scoring after just four minutes for St Ives, but Jamar Loza levelled before the break and then scored again to put the Blues in front on the hour mark. Albie Armin finished the game off for the Blues in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
