PREVIOUS MEETINGS AT GARDEN WALK
The Blues first played at Garden Walk on Saturday 13th November 2010 in the FA Vase, with the sides drawing 2-2. Michael Brothers and David Head netted for Leiston, while Gareth Heath was sent off.
Ironically, Heath got the winner in the replay in front of 200 spectators, earning Leiston a 1-0 victory and a place in the next round. The Blues went on to reach the quarter-finals that season before bowing out to Coalville Town in the last eight.
The next time the sides met in Hertfordshire was in August 2018, with the Blues winning 5-2. Patrick Brothers, Cemal Ramadan, Matt Blake, Seb Dunbar and Jake Reed were all on target in just the second game of the campaign.
The following season saw the sides drew 0-0 in December 2019, with Leiston struggling near the wrong end of the table and Royston Town doing well at the top end.
The sides didn’t meet in the 2020/2021 campaign but the Blues won in January 2022, winning 2-1 thanks to late goals from Adam Mills and Finlay Barnes.
The following season saw Will Davies net a late penalty to see the Blues come away with a 1-1 draw but in April 2024, Leiston lost 4-2. George Quantrell and Jamar Loza netted the Blues goals.
Last season, Ismael Fatadjo was on hand to put Leiston ahead but Royston equalised in the second period on New Year’s Day 2025.
