LEISTON are at home once again on Tuesday evening when Bishop’s Stortford visit in a league encounter, writes Craig Cooper.
Chris Wigger’s side gained a 3-0 home victory on Saturday against bottom club Stamford, with Adam Mills netting two and defender Eddie Jackson also on target. The win lifted Leiston three places up to 7th.
Bishop’s Stortford, meanwhile, are currently in 16th place, taking 19 points from 14 games.
They lost on penalties at the weekend at home to Cheshunt, after the game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, in the Second Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.

Leiston won 1-0 at Bishop’s Stortford in early September, with Jack Manly’s strike halfway through the first half, the difference between the two sides that night.

LEISTON and Bishop’s Stortford drew 1-1 in the Blues first home last season (2024/2025 campaign) on Tuesday 13th August. The away side took the lead through Bradley Russell but Ben Fowkes stoppage time penalty rescued a point in front of 233 spectators.
BISHOP'S STORTFORD FACTS
BISHOP'S Stortford play at Woodside Park and are managed by Steve Castle.
After being established in 1874, they joined the Stansted & District League in the late 1890’s before winning the league in 1911 and 1913. They also entered a team in the Saffron Walden & District League, winning the league three successive seasons between 1912 and 1914.
The club won the FA Amateur Cup in 1974, beating Ilford 4-1 at Wembley.
Seven years later, they were back at Wembley where they defeated Sutton United 1-0 in the 1981 FA Trophy.
In 2022/2023 they won the Isthmian Premier Division and promotion to the National League North but were relegated the following season.
Bishop’s Stortford has a population of nearly 40,000 people and is located on the River Stort.
