Leiston first played away at St Ives Town in September 1988 in the FA Vase, with Glyn Clouting and Dale Threadkell on target for Leiston, but the Blues lost 4-2 in the Extra Preliminary Round. This was the side's second game in the competition, after losing 5-0 at March Town United the season before.

ST IVES FACTS
According to the last Census (2021), just under 17,000 people live in St Ives.
The River Great Ouse runs through the city centre.
A statue of Oliver Cromwell is located in the town centre also. Cromwell lived in St Ives between 1631 and 1636.
Boxer Joe Bugner and goalkeeper John Ruddy also lived in the town.
