Rushall have won one and lost one so far. They defeated Hitchin Town 2-1 on the opening day of the campaign before they lost 2-1 at Bromsgrove Sporting on Tuesday night.

MEET RUSHALL OLYMPIC

Rushall were founded in 1893 and are nicknamed ‘The Pics’. John Allen is their Chairman while Ian Long manages the team. They play at Dales Lane and located in Walsall.

They played in a lot of local leagues before in 1951, a group of people decided to re-form the club. The club joined the Walsall & District League and won the Second Division in the 1952/1953 season and they won the First Division in 1955/1956 and then joined the Staffordshire League.

They won four titles in the Staffordshire League before playing in the Midland Alliance League.

They won promotion to the Southern League Division One in 2005 before winning the Northern Premier Division One play-offs, beating Brigg Town and Grantham Town in the semi-finals and final respectively.

After playing in the same league as the Blues between 2018 and 2023, they gained promotion in 2023, beating Coalville Town and then Nuneaton Borough, both away from home and both on penalties to gain promotion to the National League North.

After two seasons, they were relegated to the Step 3 football and came 16th (out of 21 teams) last season in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The two sides first met on Saturday, 17th November 2018 in Suffolk, with away substitute Kieron Berry netting a late goal on 95 minutes to secure a 1-0 win and take all the points back to the Midlands.

The next meeting took place on Saturday 11th December 2021, Rushall won 4-2 in Suffolk, with Ben Usher-Shipway, Callum Doyle, Whittall and Daniel Glover scored for the away side as Leiston, with the Blues fighting back from two goals down to level, thanks to two Will Davies goals.

Leiston finally won in Suffolk against Rushall Olympic on Saturday, 1st April 2023. George Quantrell put the Blues ahead but Sam Mantom levelled late on. However, the Blues weren’t to be denied and Davies volleyed home excellently from a corner in the 90th minute to secure all the points!
