Leiston made one change to the starting eleven from Saturday’s 2-1 FA Cup win against Hitchin Town, as club captain Seb Dunbar was rested and Eddie Jackson came back into the starting eleven. Willie Clemons, who was unavailable on Saturday, returned to the sixteen.

The game started with the dangerous Finn O’Boyle crossing from Leiston’s left and Eddie Jackson put the ball behind, before Kyle Callan-McFadden headed away the corner.

Luca Miller and Michael Richens then had efforts off target for the hosts before Callum Robinson come to claim a cross in the box.

Leiston had their first sight on goal in the ninth minute. Harvey Sayer and Fraser Alexander linked up well to put Joe Henman in on goal but Thomas Jackson was out to the ball first before the Blues midfielder.

Adam Mills shot wide of goal after 11 minutes before the Leon Lobjoit’s strike was palmed over by Robinson.

The away side hit the front on 16 minutes when Robinson pushed out a shot but Finn O’Boyle reacted quickest to control the ball and shoot past Robinson, with the shot taken a deflection along the way.

Sayer had two good attempts within two minutes of each other, but Jackson pushed the ball around the post both times.

Another good chance was created in the 34th minute as Milld crossed from the left but Noel Aitkens headed the cross out of play.

Sayer worked another chance on goal in the 37th minute but Jackson kept him out with a good save.

Peterborough started lively after the break and Lobjoit’s shot was saved easy in the end by Robinson before Kyle Callan-McFadden won a header in the box but Jackson got there before Adam Marriott.

But, the second goal came in the 51st minute as a well worked move from Peterborough Sports ended with Leon Lobjoit getting in on goal and shooting into Robinson’s bottom left hand corner.

Four minutes later and Sayer’s strike on the edge of the box was well blocked while on 61 minutes, Fraser Alexander’s corner was flicked on for Eddie Jackson but the defender’s header was saved by Jackson in the visiting goal.

Lobjoit was then put in on goal at the other end and netted but the goal was disallowed.

Leiston kept plugging away and Alexander’s shot was on target but blocked this time while Sayer’s effort was palmed away again by Jackson.

Adam Mills nearly lobbed Jackson as time started to tick down while Sayer went close again on 87 minutes and Cameron Rayworth’s cross landed on the roof of Jackson’s net.

The result saw Leiston drop into 9th place but there is plenty to remain positive about.

Leiston are back in action at the Flannery Stadium on Saturday afternoon when they host Dartford in the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round.
