LEISTON slipped a place to 15th in the Southern League Premier Division Central Division table after a 4-0 defeat at Latimer Park, the home of Kettering Town, on Tuesday night writes Craig Cooper.
Chris Wigger was without regular centre half Eddie Jackson once again while captain Seb Dunbar missed out after he picked up an injury at home to Guiseley in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Ben Batho came back into defence while Harvey Sayer and Adam Marriott started as Joao Rangel and Joe Henman took their place on the bench. Jude Frostick dropped out of the squad.
The Blues started well and Sayer had a couple of shots on the Kettering goal in the first ten minutes. On 18 minutes, Kettering nearly got in on goal but the flag was raised as Edward Panter was adjudged to be in an offside position.
Good play by Jack Newell on 21 minutes saw the player cross for Panter in the box but the header went just over Callum Robinson’s crossbar.
Home skipper Lawson D’Ath's attempt was put out for a corner on 27 minutes while Jaiden White forced a good save from Robinson moments later. Michael Gyasi put the hosts in front, however, on 39 minutes after a great strike from outside the box after a good ball through from Lewis Coyle.
And just four minutes later, Kettering added a second when Coyle’s delivery was met by Panter who headed home.
Leiston had a good chance through Sayer early on in the second half but the game was virtually finished on 62 minutes.
D’Ath’s corner was headed home by Harvey Peters who guided the ball home to add a third goal for the home side. Leiston made changes and brought Rangel and Henman on for Clemons and Marriott respectively.
The final goal of the contest came a minute before the ninety was up, with Theo Alexandrou shooting home well past Robinson after a good assist by Shaun Jeffers.
