A fine performance from the Blues sent them back into fourth place, in a MATCH SPONSORED BY SYCAMORE PARK. Jake Reed gave Leiston the perfect tonic for a splendid afternoon as Matt Blake found him and Reed coolly slotted into Cameron Gregory's bottom right hand corner. Tobias Hayles-Docherty went close for the away side soon after, but his effort went just over the crossbar. Matt Blake had two good chances as he was teed up by Seb Dunbar down the left, and Jake Reed put Blake through on goal but Blake found Gregory in fine form. Gregory denied Kyle Hammond and Jake Reed shot over from the resulting corner. Marcus Garnham excellently saved to his right from Lee Hughes before Leiston doubled their lead. Byron Lawrence got into the box, turned his defender and finished excellently to score his second goal of the season.
The second period started slowly, but Leiston soon upped the tempo. Matt Blake's powerful header produced a flying save from Gregory. From the resultant corner, captain Tom Bullard's effort was brilliantly palmed away by Gregory and Noel Aitkens follow up shot was blocked. Jake Reed was fouled in the box moments later, with referee Paul Burnham pointing to the spot. This enabled Matt Blake to step up and score in the 76th minute, putting the match to bed. Burnham pointed to the spot eleven minutes later after substitute Dominic Docherty was tripped in the box by keeper Gregory to give Leiston another penalty kick, and this time sub Christy Finch stepped up to make no mistake. Leiston fully deserved the 4-0 victory, with visiting keeper Cameron Gregory pulling off some fine saves. The Blues now look forward to a league game on Tuesday night, as they host King's Lynn Town.
