The Blues will be trying to put a run of three defeats in all competitions behind them tomorrow night as they host 17th place St Ives Town in league action. The Cambridgeshire side lost 7-1 at home to Royston Town on Saturday and have 9 points from 11 league games so far. The Blues are still in a healthy position of 9th after last weekend’s 2-0 loss at Alvechurch.
Adam Mills will return to the squad against St Ives, however, Adam Bailey-Dennis will start his first match of a three game ban after picking up a red card at home to Lowestoft Town last week.
Leiston have played St Ives Town just five times in league games in both sides history. In October 2018, Christy Finch and Cemal Ramadan were both on target in a 2-0 victory in Cambridgeshire but St Ives got revenge the following March, winning 2-0 in Suffolk. The sides played out an entertaining 4-4 draw in October 2019, with Noel Aitkens netting a 94th minute equaliser with just seconds to go. Just before the season stopped because of COVID, the Blues went down 1-0 on a cold night in March 2020. Also last season, St Ives were 1-0 winners after netting a late winner to condemn Leiston to a 1-0 defeat. In October 2007, Leiston lost 3-2 at home to St Ives Town in the FA Vase.
It’s a big month in October for Leiston as they next host Barwell on Saturday, before heading to Banbury United, Tamworth and Biggleswade Town all in league action. They face Hitchin Town on the last Saturday in October in Buildbase FA Trophy action.
On Monday night, Coalville Town won 2-0 at Hitchin Town in league action.
