The Blues host Leicestershire based side Barwell in league action tomorrow afternoon after putting in a decent display at home to St Ives Town on Tuesday evening that saw them run out 3-1 winners.

Jake Hutchings put the Blues ahead early on before Will Davies netted his 5th and 6th goals of the campaign to send Leiston back into 7th position. Barwell are currently sitting in 15th place and have played all their 11 league matches so far away from home due to improvements to their ground.

The sides have met four times before. In September 2018, Barwell won 1-0 at Victory Road while the following March, the Leicestershire were victorious as they ran out 3-0 winners. In October 2019, the Blues were thrashed 5-0 away from home but in March 2020, Rob Harvey was on hand to secure a 1-1 draw at home.

Adam Bailey-Dennis is suspended as he serves his second game of a three match ban but Darren Eadie and Chris Wigger will have everyone else available for selection.

Tomorrow will be the Blues last home match in October as they have a run of three away league matches in a row at Banbury United, Tamworth and Biggleswade Town respectively before heading to Hitchin Town on the last Saturday of the month in Buildbase FA Trophy action.

Blues joint boss Chris Wigger said on Friday afternoon: - ‘I think on the back of 2 cup defeats and a league loss it was great to get the win on Tuesday night. Personally I think that we could of put the game to bed in the opening 30 minutes if we had been more clinical. But I will say that the way we went about our business was top class. Our eagerness to press and be aggressive with that was what set the tone for me. Then in comparison when we had some possession our movements were fantastic with several third man runs which could not be picked up. We made 2 changes from Saturday and again that showed the depth in squad that we had and that is very pleasing for us. Saturday brings another opportunity for us to have home advantage and we will certainly be looking to build on the many positives from the game Tuesday. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there.’

The Blues Reserves head to Great Yarmouth Town in league action tomorrow afternoon in a 3pm kick off. The Reserves have dropped to 13th place in the league in recent weeks and will be looking to end a bad run against a ‘Bloaters side that sit 14th at present.
