Leiston make the trip to Stourbridge tomorrow afternoon in league action, finally hoping to get back on the field for the first time for a couple of weeks.
New signing Baris Altintop will go straight into the squad, having signed on a month’s loan from Kings Lynn Town of the National League. Meanwhile, Joe Marsden will serve a one match ban for a sending off he received against Banbury United with Adam Bailey-Dennis also finishing the second of a two game ban for an accumulation of two red cards this season.
Leiston defeated the ‘Glassboys’ in Suffolk at the start of November last year, with Finlay Barnes netting twice late on. Stourbridge replied with a goal in stoppage time but the Blues held on for a first ever win against the Midlands club, having lost all four matches to them previously.
Leiston are still seventh in a league that now separates the Blues and 16th place by just 11 points. Stourbridge have taken 35 points from 28 league games so far and sit in 12th position at the moment. The side reached the Last 16 of the FA Trophy this season, going out at home to Solihull Moors by a single goal in a 1-0 defeat.
Blues joint boss Chris Wigger said this afternoon: -
‘Tomorrow sees us on the road in our furthest journey so far this campaign. Having not had no game for the last two weeks because of the recent weather, it’s nice to be preparing for a game. Stourbridge are a very tough outfit physically and we can certainly expect to be tested. With injuries and suspensions we are a little light but tomorrow’s squad is bolstered by a new signing so that is definitely a boost for us. We hope to add further to the squad in the next week. So for myself and Darren have agreed it would be ideal to come out of tomorrow with a point on the road and then look to further boost the squad next week and welcome back suspended players and hopefully get Brendan Ocran back training also.
