Leiston host Stratford Town tomorrow night in league action trying to end a run of four straight defeats in a row. Saturday’s defeat means the Blues have conceded 17 goals in four matches but the club remain positive and still remain in 6th position at present.
Leiston have played Stratford Town just once at home in their history, going down 2-1 in March 2019 with Matt Blake on target. Earlier that season in October 2018, Jake Reed and Christy Finch were on target but Leiston went down 3-2 in the Midlands to ‘The Bards’. In September 2019, Leiston ended up on the wrong side of a 3-1 defeat.
New signings Nyan Mesuria and Spencer Keller will once again be in the squad after they both made their debuts at the weekend. Mesuria has come to us from Billericay Town while Keller has come through the youth system at Norwich City.
Leiston’s Will Davies netted his 13th and 14th goal for the club this season on Saturday as the Blues battled back against Rushall but they were eventually undone against a very good side. Stratford won 3-1 away to AFC Rushden & Diamonds at the weekend, coming back from a goal down at the interval. Stratford got to the First Round Proper of the Emirates FA Cup earlier in the season, eventually losing at home to Shrewsbury Town and have won three of their last four league games, with the defeat coming against Lowestoft Town at home as they went down 2-1. They are managed by Tim Flowers, who played in goal for Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City and Southampton and made 11 appearances for England whilst being a squad member of the national side at Euro ‘96’ and France ‘98’.
