OVERVIEW
THE Blues U23s host Framlingham Town on Tuesday night in a Thurlow Nunn Division One clash, (7.45pm kick off), writes Craig Cooper.
Neil Smye’s team suffered defeat on Saturday at Holbeach United, again by the odd goal, their third odd-goal defeat of the season so far. After going into the break goalless, Josh Yaxley and Christian Shadwell put the U23s firmly in control with half an hour to go.
But the Lincolnshire team fought back to take the points and leave Leiston bottom of the table.
Framlingham Town, meanwhile, have won their opening four matches and have a goal difference of plus 6. They got a good 2-0 win at home to much-fancied Stanway Pegasus on Saturday in front of more than 100 spectators.
Framlingham Town have lost in the play-offs in the last four campaigns, all at the semi-final stage. They have dangerous, attacking players in their side like Danny Smith and ex-Blues players Nicky Shopov, Joe Berry and Johnny Kerridge.
Leiston U23s have secured the services once more of Josh Yaxley, who left to play for Bungay Town and then signed for Halesworth Town in the summer.
