THE Blues Under 23’s head to Norfolk to face Diss Town on Tuesday evening in the Thurlow Nunn First Division North (7.45pm kick off).

The Under 23’s were denied a late win thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from Wroxham Reserves on Saturday, but it does keep a good run of form going from Neil Smye’s side. It is just two defeats from six in all competitions now.

Saturday’s draw leaves Leiston 19th in the league table (second from bottom). Diss Town lost to Eynesbury Rovers in the FA Vase at the weekend 1-0, and are one place above Leiston in 18th place, having won three and lost five of their opening eight league fixtures so far.

Leiston are improving every game, but they have conceded late goals in six of their ten league games, which unfortunately sees them at the wrong end of the table.

FROM THE BOSS

Blues Neil Smye said ahead of the game at Diss, “Of late, results have shown an improvement, and are beginning to show some reward for the performances the team are putting in, although we believe with a little more consistency and concentration results could improve even further.

“Good wins over Needham and Sudbury in the league have put points on the board. The performance in the Senior Cup win over Long Melford was impressive, followed by a good performance away at Wroxham on Saturday, although it was disappointing not to come away with three points instead of one, conceding deep into added on time.

“This is something we need to improve as so far this season has seen us drop points from being in a position to take more from games than we have. Get this part of our game right and hopefully we’ll see a more healthy position in the league table.”
