OVERVIEW
THE U23s return to home comforts this weekend and in need of a win after losing five straight league games on the bounce, writes Craig Cooper.
Last Saturday, Neil Smye’s team went down 5-1 at Badingham Road to promotion-chasing Framlingham Town. Ewan Parlett netted a late consolation goal on the day.
The U23s remain seven points from safety at the bottom of the Thurlow Nunn First Division North, but they do have games in hand on most of the teams around them, the only exception being AFC Sudbury Reserves.
Saturday’s visitors are fourth in the table and having a very first season at this level.
Wroxham Reserves have won nine, drawn three and lost three of their opening 15 league games so far. They are also still in the League Challenge Cup. In contrast to Leiston U23s losing their last five, Wroxham Reserves have won their last five.
Wroxham Reserves and Leiston U23s met for the first time at this level (Step 6) a couple of months ago (Saturday 20th September). The two teams drew 2-2, with the hosts getting a late goal.
Lennon Thompson and Aditya Singh were in target for the home side while Stan Horne netted twice for the U23s.
