NEIL Smye’s Leiston U23s side play their penultimate home game of the campaign this weekend as they host Diss Town, in an important match late in the season, writes Craig Cooper.

The U23s, after getting a really good 4-0 home win against Long Melford, which they played very well in, went down 6-0 at Holland in Essex on Bank Holiday Monday. This meant that Holland went top of the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North (although Kings Park Rangers went back to the top on Wednesday night).

Wivenhoe Town, however, went down 4-1 at Long Melford, so there is just a point between the Blues U23s and Wivenhoe Town as both teams go into their last three league games of the campaign.

Diss Town are currently in 17th position, but certainly safe for another season as they will come above Needham Market Reserves, Wivenhoe Town and the Blues U23s. They have 37 points from their 36 league games to date.

The teams met earlier in the season on 23rd, September 2025, with the sides drawing 2-2.

Benjamin Blyth and Andrew Topping-Green netted for the hosts whilst Mackenzie Travis got a double for Leiston, in front of 109 spectators.
