OVERVIEW
THE Blues U23s host Sporting 87 on Saturday in Suffolk Senior Cup action, writes Craig Cooper.
The U23s have won a game already in the competition so far this year, beating Long Melford at home in midweek, in what was the only first round game of this season’s competition.
The Blues second string remain second from bottom in the Thurlow Nunn First Division North, having taken nine points from their eleven league games thus far.
They have lost just two games from their last seven in all competitions.
Oscar Manly, Spencer Keller and Stan Horne all have three goals for the season so far for the U23s.
Youngsters Nathaniel Copping (goalkeeper), Harry Bales and Josh Yaxley have all gone on loan to SIL Premier Division side Saxmundham Sports.
Sporting 87, meanwhile, are 10th (out of 17 teams) in the Suffolk and Ipswich League Premier Division. They have won three, drawn one and lost three of their seven league games to date.
It is the first meeting ever between the two sides. If the game ends level after 90 minutes, then the tie will be decided via a penalty shoot-out. The winners will host Sudbury Sports in round three, with a date and kick off time to be arranged at a later date.
