OVERVIEW
THE Blues U23’s host Harwich tonight in league action.
The visitors are currently third in the division whilst the U23’s remain 17th, with games in hand over the bottom three sides.
Harwich, meanwhile, are third and well positioned for a play-off place at the end of the campaign. They still sit 22 points behind Haverhill Rovers, who can be confirmed as league champions in the next couple of weeks.
Harwich contain ex-Blues player Gareth Heath in their squad, with the midfielder playing just under 350 games in all competitions for Leiston between 2010 and 2017. Another former Blue, Louie Bloom also plays for Harwich & Parkeston.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
HARWICH beat the Blues U23’s 6-0 in November last year in Essex. Louie Bloom (3), Joseph Boreham-Knight, Liam White and Alfie Canning netted the goals in front of 194 people.
The sides first met at this level in September 2022 at Leiston, with the game ending 1-1. Konnor Fletcher scored for the Blues while Gareth Heath scored for Harwich.
In the meeting last year at home between the two sides at Leiston, Harwich won 3-0 in December 2023 with Luke Mayhew (2) and Liam White scoring for Harwich.
COMING UP FOR THE BLUES
THE U23’s have a week off on this coming Saturday but they host Holbeach United FC on Saturday 22nd March before visiting Whitton United on the last weekend of the month.
