Having not played a league game for three weeks, they have since slipped down to 9th place in the table but they have had a good start as the Blues play second string football at Step 7 for the first time ever.

Bacton United 89 are currently 16th in the league table (second from bottom), with one draw and eight losses from their nine league games so far. They lost 2-1 at home to Henley Athletic in the Suffolk Senior Cup two weeks ago.

This will be a first ever meeting between the Blues second string and Bacton United 89.

BLUES BOSS NEIL SMYE SAYS:

“THERE was no fixture for the 23’s last Saturday giving those players involved with the under 18 and under 23 squads having a welcome break," Smye said.

“We obviously play Bacton United 89 on Saturday, so another unknown in terms of opposition. Hopefully, we can get back to winning ways in the league after the last league game ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat away to East Bergholt with a below par performance.”

The Under 23’s have played in the JLS Catering Group Suffolk Senior Cup away to Carlton Colville Town since their last league game. Stan Horne, Ollie Long and Ashton Rayworth got the goals in a strong performance to secure victory. They will head to Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves in the next round on Saturday 17th October.
