Leiston Reserves 3-0 Debenham LC - Match Report

The Reserves defeated Debenham LC 3-0 on Saturday at Victory Road to move up a couple of places in the league table.

Debenham had the first chance in this encountered but Shaun Thorrold fired wide of goalkeeper Joe Potter’s post. Both teams were passing the ball around well and it was the Reserves who took the lead in the 14th minute when Harrison Bacon got through one on one with Sam Chilvers and the keeper saved Bacon’s lob before the player smashed home the rebound. Sam Allen cleared Bradley Austin’s strike off the line and Charlie Canham was on hand to steer away a good cross moments later. Louie Bloom was just off target as Leiston started to play well but Max Hutchings nearly levelled but found the side netting. Harrison Bacon curled over the bar before Potter made a fine save from Jake Conway. Adam Blades went in on goal in the last chance of the half but Chilvers stood up well to deny him.

Two minutes into the second period, Mason Sinclair released Louie Bloom down the left and he crossed to Jourdan Kiwomya but he could only fire wide. However, Kiwomya would get on the scoresheet in the 54th minute finishing off well after a good team move. Adam Blades hit the outside of the post and then the away side applied some pressure of their own with Allen again having to clear off the Leiston goal line for the second time in the match. Sub Callum Pearce shot wide and Joe Potter misjudged a free kick, with Mason Sinclair’s massive clearance finishing Kiwomya and the striker lobbed Chilvers but it also went over the bar. A Louie Bloom cross was dummied by Adam Blades and
the ball went to Toby Groom but the excellent Chilvers was out to smoother and take. The keeper pushed away Bloom’s effort a couple of minutes later, but Adam Blades did make the game safe as he struck in off Chilvers’ right hand post in the 81st minute to seal the win. Ash Hart forced Potter into a save with his legs late on as Leiston kept a clean sheet.
