Well, it’s boiling up here at Victory Road, isn’t it?
Back-to-back away wins for the Blues, second in the table with games in hand, this really is proving out to be a terrific season for Chris Wigger, Darren Eadie, their players and of course the fans.
I won’t go down the prediction route of what I think the rest of the season will hold for Leiston FC, just to say enjoy the ride because it is going to be fun.
Of course, if all the on field excitement isn’t enough, the big news off the pitch is the 3G Project that is well underway at the Club.
It’s a big task and much money has still to be raised, as the Club converts the current grass pitch to 3G, but one I know is going to happen and when it does it will help transform Leiston Football Club, not just further into the higher echelons of the non-league pyramid, but more importantly it will be a community hub that so many people in Leiston and the outlying regions will benefit from.
And therein lies the key.
The 3G Project isn’t just about Leiston’s first team. Far from it. While the first team, reserves and youth teams will enjoy having a ‘home’ base, rather than training all over the county, it’s other facets of football and community that the 3G Project will benefit.
Women’s football, Vets football, youth football, corporate matches, all levels of football, teams from all around the area will enjoy the facility. That’s why it’s very much a community project.

So, the excitement on that front continues and it’s so heartening to see and hear of so many people wanting to actively get involved in making it happen. It’s going to be wonderful when finished.
Away from Victory Road and a little look at the football world in general, I’m sure there are many Ipswich Town fans out there on the Victory Road terraces most weeks.
Are Town going up?
Well, the Blues from Portman Road are also enjoying a good season so far, with expectations high. This weekend they entertain Sheffield Wednesday and I’ll be having a check on my phone throughout to see how they are getting on.
Of course, don’t forget Ipswich Town are at Victory Road, Leiston in the Suffolk Premier Cup on Tuesday, February 21.
I'm glad Ipswich Town are back in the Premier Cup again. They pulled out a few years back for a while and it was a big disappointment for non-league clubs like Leiston who missed out on the opportunity to play the county’s professional side.
But Town are back now and I’m sure everyone at Victory Road is looking forward to the big night ahead.
This Saturday afternoon Leiston entertain Alvechurch at Victory Road, 3pm kick-off. And a big thank you to them for providing us non-league fans with some wonderful FA Cup memories this season. However, this is league points that are up for grabs – and Leiston want them badly!
