SPENCER Keller hopes to get the Leiston crowd on ‘the edge of their seats’ with his football, as he joined the Blues this week.
The 21-year-old former Norwich City youngster, who had a short spell at Victory Road 18 months ago, when he played 12 first-team games, has joined the Blues on a two-year deal after being at King's Lynn last season.
Excited at the prospect of settling in Suffolk with Leiston, the pacy attacking midfielder said he was delighted to be joining the Blues.
“I know both managers, Chris (Wigger) and Darren (Eadie) well. So, it was an easy decision for me to join Leiston,” he said.
“I have worked with them both in the past and they told me of the project Leiston are building and where they want to be. It was a no-brainer for me.”
Spencer has his goals for the season ahead and can’t wait to get going.
“I want to get as many minutes as possible under my belt and enjoy my football,” he said.
“I want to try and do my part and help the team as much as I can with goals and assists and just give an all-round 110% from minute one to 95.”
Admitting he likes the ball at his feet and taking defenders on, Spencer hopes to light up Victory Road with his play.
“I’d like to say I offer a lot of pace in behind and like to get the ball at my feet and do my part,” he said.
“Find different ways to beat my man and get the crowd on the edge of their seats.”
Spencer’s signing comes in the same week last season’s managers’ player-of-the-year Ollie Saunders committed himself to the Blues for two seasons.
It’s been another positive week for Leiston, with joint first-team boss Darren Eadie admitting he can’t wait to have Spencer on board.
“Spencer is a very talented player,” Darren said.
“I’ve known him for a while. He had a spell with us a couple of seasons ago, but he needed an operation. He has had that op and a season with King’s Lynn. He says he feels great, the best he has felt in years.
“Now he needs games. He will be a fantastic addition for us and he gets that opportunity now and I very much welcome him on board.”
