LEISTON skipper Seb Dunbar says he wants him and his side to end the season with a trophy, as the Blues play Felixstowe & Walton in the Endeavour Automotive Suffolk Premier Cup final on Wednesday night.
The game, to be held at Needham Market, (7.45pm ko), will see the Blues and the Seasiders go head-to-head in the final once more after the two met at Portman Road back in 2019, Leiston winning 3-2.
Dunbar was in the Blues team that evening, as he won the third of his three Premier Cup medals.
“It’s a great game to be involved in,” Seb said.
“We haven’t won it for a few years, so it would be nice to win it again. We want to end the season with a trophy. I know we’ll all be up for it. We’ve had a few injuries, but our squad is strong, which is so important.”
So, what will the skipper have to say as the team prepare in the changing rooms?
“I won’t really need to say anything,” he said.
“We go to Needham, we know what we’ve got to do. We must put our stamp on the game.
“For me, it’s just another game. I know they are a step below, but Felixstowe are a good side, and they’ll get all the respect from us.”
The Blues have been buoyed by a fine performance against Banbury on Saturday, where they ran out 3-0 winners, a game that saw three under-18 players make their first-team debuts.
“The win against Banbury was a good confidence-booster,” Seb added. “We played the conditions well, that’s what you have got to do at this time of the season.
“It was exciting to have the young lads make their debuts. They train with us and have a lot about them. And it’s good they got their chance.”
A supporters' coach to Needham leaves Leiston’s Victory Road ground at 6pm. Reserve your seat with Ollie George on 07527 421818 or email oli.george77@gmail.com. Seats are £10.
