LEISTON boss Chris Wigger is looking forward with relish to a huge week of football for his side.

The Blues entertain Dartford in the FA Trophy 3rd qualifying round on Saturday (3pm) at the Flannery Stadium, before heading to Southern League Premier Division Central leaders, Real Bedford, looking for league points, on Tuesday night.

And to cap a big week, Leiston entertain Coventry United at the Flannery Stadium next Saturday (Oct 3, 3pm) in an FA Cup, third qualifying round tie.

Plenty of action ahead then for Wigger and his team.

"Yes, it is a big week," Wigger said.

"But it's what we play football for and what the Club looks forward to. These are the challenges we are up for and I know our fans are going to love the thought of these big games and give us that atmosphere at our home ground that can make such a difference.”

Dartford, who play at the same level as Leiston in the Isthmian Premier Division, arrive in Suffolk unbeaten in five in all competitions, while the Blues lost their first game in five at home to Peterborough Sports on Tuesday night, but have in the main been in good form.

“There has been plenty of FA Cup football for us recently and now it’s the Trophy,” Wigger said.

“They are both great competitions and we want to do well in both. Dartford will be a strong test for us, we know that. But we’ve been in decent form, so we head into the game in a good frame of mind.”

Leiston are also gearing up for the big FA Cup clash with Coventry United next weekend and, while Wigger won’t look too far ahead, he knows the interest these games can generate.

“We’re already seeing so much fan interest in the Dartford and Coventry United games,” he said.

“But, yes, it’s one game at a time and we have been and will be concentrating on Dartford since our game with Peterborough Sports.”
