OVERVIEW
LEISTON will look to extend their current unbeaten run this afternoon at the Watson & Hillhouse Stadium against a Spalding United side who are in good form themselves.
Chris Wigger’s team came back twice in Tuesday night to draw 2-2 with St Ives Town to make it six league games unbeaten and just one defeat in 11 in all competitions.
Goals from Ben Fowkes (10th of the season) and Jamar Loza (21st of the season) saw Leiston come back from 1-0 and 2-1 down to secure a point and the Blues sit just one point and one place off fifth-placed Halesowen Town. St Ives' opening goal on Tuesday, in the 44th minute, saw Leiston concede a goal from the first time in more than 500 minutes.
Spalding United are indeed on a great run of form themselves, and sit in 10th place in the league, four points off Leiston on 44 points, with the sides playing the same amount of games.
The Lincolnshire club have had some great wins against Halesowen Town, Stratford Town, Stourbridge and Bedford Town of late.
PREVIOUS MEETING
THE two clubs met for the first time ever at the back end of October last year and the Blues ran out 2-1 winners.
Ben Fowkes and Jamar Loza had put Leiston two goals up either side of the break while B. Cybulski pulled a goal back on 76 minutes for the hosts but Leiston held on for the victory.
